Springtime in Chicago is undoubtedly the best time to enjoy the city. It’s not too humid, not too hot, not too cold—essentially, it’s the Goldilocks of Windy City weather. And with the start of this season of rebirth and vibrancy, maybe it’s time to give your activities calendar a new life.

To break up the monotony of the everyday, here are some upcoming events and activities in and around the city you might want to check out this season.

1. Eating Your Way Through Chicago Restaurant Week

March 25 through April 10, 2022

View participating restaurants here

Technically, it’s Chicago Restaurant Two-and-a-Half Weeks, but the extra time is only a good thing in this case. From Friday, March 25 through Sunday, April 10, participating restaurants within Chicago and the nearby suburbs will be offering prix fixe menus for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Once again, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in Chicago Restaurant week through dine-in or takeout/delivery.

2. Strolling Through the Spring Flower Show at Garfield Park Conservatory

February 26 through May 8, 2022

Reservations are required. Book your visit here.

The annual Spring Flower Show brings a welcome burst of color and life after a long, cold winter. More than 18,000 flowers—including tulips, daffodils, Icelandic Poppies, and the Chilean Butterfly Flower—will be on display. For an added bit of fun and flair, this year’s theme is “Knock Knock.” Expect plant-themed knock-knock jokes attached to doors made from reclaimed building materials throughout the exhibit.

3. Catching an Opening Day Baseball Game

Baseball Season begins April 7

When it comes to baseball, Chicagoans are, of course, divided on whom to root for, but united in the love of grabbing some beers and hot dogs as they watch their team play. Fortunately, baseball season is just weeks away, and we can experience this favorite spring (and summer) pastime very, very soon. The White Sox are away playing the Kansas City Royals on Opening Day, April 7, while the Cubs Home Opener is April 7 against the Milwuakee Brewers.

4. Getting Your Body Moving Along the Lakefront

After being cooped up indoors for the last few months, there’s nothing quite like getting your body moving in the sunshine (without hiding under oversized coats and scarves). A casual stroll, run, or bike ride on a warm spring day along the lakefront is never a bad idea.
